Gryphons Honour Romak
It was five years ago, in the London Gryphons inaugural (2005) W-League season that a young 16 year old named Devon Romak would begin her ascent to soccer greatness. Devon only a junior in High School at the time would become an integral part of that 2005 Gryphons back line that included standouts Erin Geldhof (Univ. of South Carolina) and all W-League Defender Angela Donato. It was a remarkable transition for a youth player to make the leap to elite soccer and perform at a high level while competing against the best NCAA, National and International level talent. Devon's play that season garnered the attention of many NCAA Division 1 college programs including Michigan and Ohio State. In the end, Devon would select the sunny beaches of Florida and the commit her collegiate career to Florida Atlantic University.
For the next three summers Devon would continue to be a key contributor to the London Gryphons. Starting in 2007, Devon would begin a remarkable streak that would push over the entire season and next. Devon would play the entire 2007 & '08 season without being substituted once. That is an impressive minute streak of 2340 minutes. That streak is a testament to how much effort Devon puts into her physical and mental conditioning. Devon is also the all-time career leader for the Gryphons in games (50) and minutes (5535). Devon was also selected the team captain in 2008.

2009 USL W-League London Gryphons
The London Gryphons are about to commence their 5th season of exciting USL W-League soccer. The enthusiasm and excitement around the 2009 version of the Gryphons is contagious with a revamped roster that is full of elite NCAA talent. With only four returning players from the 2008 team (Melissa Smith, Ashley Seib, Devon Beach & Kelsie Roberts), the Gryphons will be fielding a completely new line-up of players as they hope to challenge for that elusive first playoff berth.
Competing in the newly aligned Great Lakes Division against the likes of perennial W-League powerhouse Ottawa Fury, Toronto Lady Lynx, Laval Comets, Hamilton Avalanche, Rochester Ravens FC as well as new franchises Buffalo Flash & Quebec City Admirals will provide stiff competition.
